  • For naturally lit black background sessions, you’ll need a horse safe area that has at least 3 walls & a roof. This could be a hay shed, machinery shed, indoor arena, or stable isleway. In some cases, stable doorways can be used; however, this will limit the number of poses and images we can produce.
    For studio lit sessions, a larger area with access to power will be required to safely erect the studio lightboxes and backdrop. Stables complexes, isleways, large sheds, indoor arenas, or large empty garages can work well.

  • For Portrait sessions, the minimum requirement is to have your horse clean, neat & tidy.
    No one likes photos of a horse with stable stains, or it will require a lot more editing to remove stains.

    Just like preparing for a competition, please have your horse washed & groomed ready for their time in the spotlight. I would recommend washing the day before and rugging overnight to prevent any fluffy ponies.

    The presentation of your horse is purely personal preference. However, if your discipline suits, having your horse plaited for their portrait photos creates a beautiful finish.
    You’ll have the chance to change from a nice halter to a bridle during our session.
    Please ensure all halters and bridles used are cleaned beforehand, and all straps are in their keepers.

    I will supply a photography halter that, after the editing process, will create a ‘naked’ horse.
    I also carry a full sized black leather halter.

  • Asking a friend along for the session to either be the handler or horse attention minion is ideal.
    If you are unable to organsie a helper for the day, I’ll will bring one, but you will need to alert me in advance!
    The session will go much smoother and be more enjoyable for you and your horse with a minimum 3 people.
